Israeli naval vessels on Friday fired on Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of the blockaded Gaza Strip.
The navy sprayed a group of Palestinian fishing boats off the coast of Gaza with heavy machinegun fire, according to Nizar Ayyash, the head of Gaza's Union of Fishermen.
The attack damaged some of the boats, he said, adding that Israeli naval vessels open fire on Palestinian fishing boats on an almost daily basis.
Palestinian medical sources, meanwhile, said the gunfire had not caused any casualties among the Palestinian fishermen.
A cease-fire signed between Israel and Palestinian resistance factions on August 26 ended 51 days of relentless Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip, which killed over 2,160 Palestinians over July and August.
Ever since Palestinian faction Hamas won 2006 legislative polls, Israel has imposed a tight blockade on the Gaza Strip.
