The footage shows an Israeli intelligence officer telling the 16-year-old al-Tamimi: “You are a beautiful girl. Your hair is blonde, your face is pink -- you should be at the sea, not in detention.”
At a Monday press conference held in the West Bank city of Ramallah, al-Tamimi’s father, Bassem, said the remarks were tantamount to “verbal harassment”.
He went on to assert that his daughter was being subjected to 12-hour interrogation sessions during which her questioners threatened to detain her family and friends.
The two-hour video was reportedly obtained from the Israeli authorities by al-Tamimi’s attorney.
“We have lodged a complaint against the intelligence officer,” al-Tamimi’s father said. “The [Israeli] occupation has no honor, but we are resisting it by all means available.”
On Mar. 21, an Israeli military court sentenced Ahed al-Tamimi to eight months in jail for “attacking” Israeli troops after a video went viral online showing her slapping an Israeli soldier who had trespassed on her family’s backyard.
Al-Tamimi’s mother has also been slapped with eight months behind bars -- and a $1,700 fine -- for “incitement” and “assault”.
