The world's oldest Palestinian, Mariam Ammash, who lived in Haifa and held an Ottoman passport, has passed away at age 124.

Ammash was born in 1888, 60 years before the Israeli occupation, and retained her Ottoman identification and passport until her death, relatives said.

She was buried after a funeral ceremony in Omar bin Hattab mosque on Saturday. Speaking to the Anatolia news agency, Macid Humli Ammash, 51, Ammash's grandson, said his grandmother went to a hospital three years ago for the first time, suffering from lung disease.

Locals said Ammash had 10 children, including five daughters, and nearly 350 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
