An Ottoman period coin was found in Gaza Strip Monday during sewerage infrastructure excavations.
Gaza Municipality General Director of Architecture and Planning Nihad Al-Muganni told reporters that a large number of cruses with coins was found during sewerage infrastructure excavations at Baghdad Street in Shuja'iyya district.
Muganni reported that the coins appear to belong to the Ottoman period after an investigation was carried out on some samples.
He also said that the interrupted excavations will restart soon, and will be accompanied by experts from the Ministry of Tourism and Historical Monuments in the area.
