On the 5th June 1967 the Six Day War began by Israel and the neighboring states of Egypt (known at the time as the United Arab Republic), Jordan, and Syria resulting in the fall of Golan Heights in Syria, the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt and Gaza in the West Bank of Palestine. This resulted in the annexation of Jerusalem after the defeat of the Jordanian forces.

After heavy clashes on the 7th June, Israeli paratroopers eneters the Old City of Jerusalem through the Lions Gate. The following day, on the 8th June, with support from the Jerusalem Brigade, they marched to Al Khalil, known as Hebron.
After this victory, a ceasfire was signed. In this treaty Israel: Israel had controlled the Gaza Strip and the Sinai Peninsula from Egypt, the West Bank (including East Jerusalem) from Jordan, and the Golan Heights from Syria and multiplied their land by 2.5 over the six days.
