Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh on Thursday called on Egyptian officials to open the Rafah border gate.
During the sermon after the Eid al-Fitr prayer, Haniyeh said they demand that the Rafah border gate be reopened and the tunnels, from which Gazaians get their food, clothing and medical needs, not be touched.
Calling on them to also not make Gaza live the embargo again, Haniyeh stressed they were for the closure of tunnels if alternatives for ensuring living standards were found.
"We follow the Muslim ummah's pain, the Palestinian case and give effort for the protection of the case in the eyes of the Muslim community," Haniyeh said.
Also touching on the negotiation process with Israel, Haniyeh said he did not want the process to last and to give up the rights of Palestinians.
He said a concession would transform the bargain to a deadlock and added such a case would not be accepted by the Hamas movement.Güncelleme Tarihi: 08 Ağustos 2013, 15:03
