Scores of Palestinians on Friday suffered temporary asphyxiation when Israeli army troops used teargas to disperse several protests in the occupied West Bank, eyewitnesses and local resistance committees said.

Two Palestinians were wounded with rubber bullets in the southern West Bank city of Hebron, an eyewitness said.

He added that scores of other Palestinians had suffered temporary asphyxiation when Israeli troops prevented activists affiliated with the Gaza-based Hamas movement from marking the 27th anniversary of the group's establishment in the West Bank city of Hebron.

Local committees that oppose Israeli settlement construction, meanwhile, said Israeli troops had also used teargas to disperse other anti-Israel demonstrations elsewhere in the West Bank.

As a result, they added, scores of Palestinians had suffered temporary asphyxiation.

Palestinians stage weekly protests on Friday against ongoing Israeli settlement building and Israel's notorious separation wall, which snakes across the occupied West Bank isolating large swathes of Palestinian territory.

The weekly rallies are typically dispersed by force by the Israeli army.

According to the Palestinian government in Ramallah, the separation wall cuts some 50,000 Palestinian residents of occupied East Jerusalem off from the city center.
