Red Cross to take initiative for Palestinian prisoners in Israel

Peter Maurer, the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), promised on Tuesday in Gaza that they would work for relieving the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.

Maurer arrived in Gaza on a one-day visit and came together with a Palestinian committee including families who have relatives in Israeli prisons.

"Maurer will be a follower of the report that the Red Cross published about Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails, and he also promised to work for relieving those Palestinian prisoners," spokesman for the families of Gaza prisoners, Jamal Farwana, told AA after the rally in the office of Red Cross in Gaza.

Farwane also said that Palestinians who had relatives in Israeli prisons had told Maurer that those prisoners had been stripped of their fundamental rights like education and health, adding,"They have also said that Israel did not provide any primary health care to the Palestinian prisoners and also did not administer any treatment to Palestinians who have cancer."
