A 29-year-old Jewish man and two 16-year-old Jewish youths have been charged by Israeli prosecutors with the murder of Palestinian teenager Mohammed Abu Khdair, the Israeli justice ministry said.

The culprits, all from the West Bank settlement of Adam, admitted to beating and burning the 16-year-old Palestinian to death in Jerusalem on July 2 in 'revenge' for the death of three Jewish settler teens who had gone missing on June 12.

Israel was quick to blame Hamas for the kidnapping of the three teens, usingit as an excuse to launch an ongoing military operation on the Gaza Strip, but Hamas denied the claims.

Mohammad Abu Khdair was last seen being forced into a car in the Shufat district of East Jerusalem. His body was later found in a forest in West Jerusalem.

An autopsy showed soot in his lungs, indicating that he had been burned alive.
