Culture and Tourism Minister Ömer Çelik has announced that his ministry plans to hold the first ever Turkish Culture Week in Palestine.
According to a statement issued by the ministry's press center on Wednesday, Çelik said his ministry has held Turkish Culture Week activities in many countries around the world and is now adding Palestine to its list.
Turkish artists, films and exhibitions will introduce Turkey during the Turkish Culture Week, Çelik said.
The Turkish Cultural Week, which is planned to be held for the first time in Palestine, is expected to strengthen cultural relations between the two countries.
Çelik recently had a meeting with Palestinian Ambassador to Turkey Nabil Maarouf in Ankara.
The meeting lasted for approximately one hour.
At the meeting, Çelik and Maarouf spoke about the upcoming 5th Palestinian Culture Week, slated to begin on Aug. 29.
“The Palestinian Culture Week is under our ministry's control and I will personally follow it and attend the opening ceremony,” Çelik said.
