A Palestinian on Thursday reportedly tried to stab a group of Jewish settlers in the Israeli-occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian was seen approaching the West Bank's Yitzhar junction armed with a knife, Israel's Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper reported.

According to the daily, the Palestinian fled the scene after a settler threatened him with a gun.

The Israeli army locked down Burin village in the West Bank following the alleged stabbing attempt, eyewitnesses said.

According to the witnesses, Israeli forces declared the village a "closed military zone" and searched a number of houses there.

There has been no comment by the Israeli army regarding the incident.
