Turkey's ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party's Deputy Chairman Huseyin Celik compared Syrian President Bashar al- Assad to Saddam Hussein, former Iraqi head, following Wednesday's chemical weapon attack staged by the Assad regime which claimed at least 1,300 lives near Damascus.
Thousands of people had been killed and many others injured in a sarin gas attack staged by Saddam Hussein in 1998 in Halabja, a Kurdish populated region in north of Iraq.
Celik harshly criticized those who supported Wednesday's attack both financially and politically.
"The world ignores violence in Syria as there is no oil in the country," said Celik.
Referring to the UN Security Council's meeting following the attack in Syria, Celik said the Security Council could not reach a solution, adding " Today's UN is an unfair establishment."
