CHP suggests forming two commissions on Kurdish issue

Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu on Tuesday called for the establishment of two commissions both internal and external to Parliament for the resolution of Turkey's long-standing Kurdish problem.

Speaking at his party's parliamentary group meeting, Kılıçdaroğlu said two separate commissions should be established, to which parties would contribute an equal number of members, to work on possible solutions.

Kılıçdaroğlu stated that Parliament, which is currently drafting a new constitution, could resolve Turkey's decades-long Kurdish problem.

“This issue is no longer a problem which can be resolved by a single party alone. All the political parties should make efforts to solve this problem. We are changing the Constitution, we established a commission to this effect and named it the ‘Constitutional Reconciliation Commission.' Why don't we establish such a commission to solve the terrorism problem? Are there any obstacles in front of us?” he asked.
