Turkish interior minister on Friday said a comparison EU and Turkish statistical data had shown that Turkey was the safest country in Europe with the least amount of crimes.
"Turkey has the lowest crime rates in Europe. Ninety-five percent of all crimes are prosecuted. Turkey is no more a country where crimes go unsolved," Besir Atalay told reporters in an inauguration ceremony of Turkey's first homeland security Wimax application -- the MOBESE surveillance system -- in the Black Sea province of Samsun.
Atalay said Turkey's law enforcement agencies deployed cutting-edge technology in their effort to prevent and solve crimes, adding that the MOBESE system was part of that technological improvement.
