New Turkish top court member swears in

The new member of Turkey's top court sworn in and took office in Ankara on Monday.

Turkey's President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan participated in the oath taking ceremony of Nuri Necipoglu, who was elected as the permanent member of the Constitutional Court.

"The Constitutional Court will continue to be a fully objective advocate and the biggest guarantee of democratic, secular and social state of law which has caught up with the
contemporary civilization level, a target shown by Ataturk," Constitutional Court's President Hasim Kilic said during the ceremony.

President Gul appointed Colonel Nuri Necipoglu, a member of the Military Court of Appeals, as the permanent member of the Constitutional Court after Necmi Ozler retired on April 1, 2010.

Necipoglu was one of the three candidates nominated by the General Board of the Military Court of Appeals.
