Turkey's Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges (TOBB) Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu said the tension with Iran should not be escalated.
Delivering a speech on Turkey at the US based think-tank German Marshall Fund (GMF) in Washington, Hisarciklioglu said sanctions on Iran would make Turkey more dependent on Russian gas and oil. He added that would create a big risk for Turkey and damage the investment spirit.
He said Turkey had been developing for the last 10 years and gave examples of the economic leaps Turkey made. Hisarciklioglu said it was important Turkey should boost the quality of democracy, strengthen justice and education system and focus on tax reform and added that Turkey needed a new constitution.
Answering a question on the latest developments in the Middle East, Hisarciklioglu said peace in the Middle East was a must for the peace in the world.
