Turkish security forces killed 12 PKK militants while they were trying to enter Turkey at the Iraqi border close to the Semdinli town, said the Governor's Office of the south-eastern province of Hakkari on Tuesday.

In a written statement released on Tuesday, Hakkari Governor's Office stated that Turkish security forces began a comprehensive operation around Semdinli town on October 1.

"A clash erupted between Turkish security forces and PKK terrorists when they refused to surrender to Turkish security forces on Monday night around Semdinli. During the clash, 12 PKK terrorists, including two women, were killed," underlined the Hakkari Governor's Office.

Turkish security forces found an anti-aircraft gun, a BKC machine gun, four kalashnikov long range rifles and many equipment related to these weapons, the Hakkari Governor's Office stressed.

Turkish security forces continue operations in the province with restraint, conventional wisdom, sensitivity and determination, the Hakkari Governor's Office also said.
