Masum Turker was re-elected the leader of the small leftist Democratic Left Party (DSP).

The 8th regular congress of the political party was held in Ankara on Sunday.

During the congress, Turker was re-elected after receiving 778 out of 881 valid votes.
The other candidates Davut Ocak got 92 votes and Erol Ozavci received 11 votes.

Turker was first elected on May 18, 2009 the leader of the DSP founded by former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit in 1985. He was a former state minister for economy of the 57th coalition government of DSP, the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the Motherland Party (ANAP) led by Prime Minister Ecevit.
