Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appointed Mehmet Akarca as chief prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeals late on Monday.
Akarca received the most votes from the court’s general assembly on April 28.
The former head of the 14th Penal Chamber replaces Hasan Erbil and will serve a four-year term.
