Turkey says Israel's new settlements 'latest provocation'

World Bulletin / News Desk

Turkey on Wednesday strongly condemned Israeli authorization for new settlements in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem.

In a written statement released on Wednesday, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) underlined that the Israeli decision permitting the construction of 1,500 new residential units in Ramat Shloma and the beginning of a planning process for around 5,000 new residences in Givat Hamatos and Gilo settlements were the latest examples of Israeli provocation despite the calls and warnings made by the international community.

We strongly condemn Israel's attitude which violated international laws and deliberately destroyed a platform for permanent and fair peace in the region, the MFA stated.

We call on Israel to fulfill its obligations under international laws and immediately end all activities which hurt the platform for peace, the MFA stressed.

"We call on the international community to take the necessary measures against Israel's one-sided illegal acts which destroy a two-state solution. Turkey will continue to be on the side of the Palestinian people against Israeli implementations which violate international laws," the MFA also said.
