Turkey's AK Party submits bill to hold elections on June 12

The Justice and Development Party (AK Party) has submitted a bill to Parliament asking it to hold the next parliamentary elections on June 12 of this year, Cihan news agency reported.

After an initial discussion in the General Assembly, the bill will be forwarded to the parliamentary constitutional commission, which is expected to examine the bill and make public its decision regarding the proposal by March 1. The bill will then be published in the Official Gazette.

Parliament does not need the approval of the president to put the bill into effect. In addition, opposition parties will not be authorized to take the bill to the Constitutional Court for annulment
