Turkey's CHP leader calls for urgent measures over hot money

The chairman of the main secularist opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) said on Monday that the government must take urgent measures regarding hot money.

Addressing the parliament during debates over the draft law on 2011 Central Management Budget, CHP Chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu said that hot money policy will seriously damage economy and industry.

Kilicdaroglu said that the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party parliamentarians did not mention unemployment issue during their speeches over the budget, but it was one of the basic problems in the country. "The government could not solve the unemployment issue for eight years," he said. Unemployment rate was 8 percent between 1988 and 2000 and the figure was 11.1 percent between 2003 and 2009, he said.

Kilicdaroglu said that the government should also take measures in the agriculture sector.
