Turkey's Minister of Agriculture, Food, Animal Breeding Mehmet Mehdi Eker received Tuesday Jan Hajda, chairperson of Czech Republic's Committee on National Economy, Agriculture and Transport.
Eker said the Czech Republic was one of the countries that support Turkey's EU membership, adding, "the support of the Czech Republic is voiced on every opportunity in our meetings."
Eker said relations between two countries had a long history and they had always been friendly.
Eker said the trade volume between the Czech Republic and Turkey was around $2.7 billion, which he described as "insufficient".
"Share of agriculture in trade volume has increased, but that does not reflect the true potential of the two countries," said Eker, emphasising that Turkey was among the top 7 countries in the world with the highest agricultural income.
The visiting Czech official, said on his part, that agricultural sector needed to produce more to meet demands of the increasing world population.
