Turkey's opposition Republican People's Party's leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu said staging military coups in the 21st century to shape society was unacceptable.

Kilicdaroglu said demands for freedom and democracy were increasing throughout the world.  He called on the leaders in power to listen to the demands of their people saying "It is not acceptable in today's world to remain insensitive to demands, to ignore them and to say 'I have the majority of votes and can do what I want'."

"I hope democracy and common sense will win in Egypt again. I hope Egypt will get back to democracy and multi-party system"

Comparing Turkey with Egypt Kilicdaroglu said Turkish society did not want military coups or intervention one way or another. He also criticized the government for what he said the government was leading Turkey toward authoritarian rule.
