Turkish President Abdullah Gul Sunday congratulated Kemal Kilicdaroglu who was elected as the new chairman of Republican People's Party (CHP).
Gul said, "this change in the main opposition party is important both for the party itself and the Turkish politics."
Gul also wished success to Kilicdaroglu.
Kilicdaroglu became CHP's 7th chairman by getting 1,189 votes on the first day of CHP's 33rd general assembly meeting on Saturday.
