Turkey's President received Nobel laureate Chinese writer Guan Moye, better known by the pen name Mo Yan, on Friday, said a statement on the presidency's official website.

"Moye has contributed to world literature with his works, which have been translated into Turkish and attract great attention from Turkish readers," Abdullah Gul said during the meeting at Cankaya Palace.

Relations between Turkey and China have a deep-rooted past, said Gul, expressing his pleasure over the countries' cooperation in cultural matters.
