Two independent parliamentarians joined the main secularist opposition party on Tuesday.

Independent MPs Emrehan Halici and Kamer Genc became members of the Republican People's Party (CHP) in the party's gathering at the parliament.

The CHP group met at the parliament for the first time after Kemal Kilicdaroglu was elected the new chairman on May 22.

Thus, the number of CHP MPs reached 99, whereas the number of independent MPs dropped to 10.
