The number of seats the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) has in the Turkish Parliament went up to 72 after independent deputies Murat Basesgioglu and Yusuf Ziya Irbec joined the MHP on Friday.
A deputy from Istanbul, Basesgioglu had resigned from the Justice and Development (AK) Party on July 2, 2010 while a deputy from Antalya, Irbec had resigned from the AK Party on January 21, 2011.
Below is the distribution of seats in the Turkish Parliament:
Justice and Development (AK) Party: 334
Republican People's Party (CHP): 101
Nationalist Movement Party (MHP): 72
Peace and Democracy Party (BDP): 20
Independent: 7
Democratic Left Party (DSP): 6
Turkey Party (TP): 1
Vacant: 9
Total: 550

They could have been in a party that works for justice and equality and instead join the MHP. At the end it is their own and their new party's loss, and AKPs gain, inshaAllah, as they don't need such people in their ranks.
