The hashtag “WeLoveErdogan” came in first place of Twitter’s worldwide trend-topic list Tuesday night, with the beginning of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s U.S. visit.

Twitter users who support Erdogan shared their sympathies, thoughts, and wishes.

Deputy PM Yalcin Akdogan, FM Mevlut Cavusoglu, Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag, and several ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputies also tweeted the hashtag with photos and videos to show their support for Erdogan.

Over 171,000 tweets were written up until to 11 p.m. local time (2100GMT).

Followers chose such messages as “Benim ulkem, benim liderim” (My country, my leader), “Türkiye daima liderinin arkasında duracak” (Turkey always stand behind its leader), and “Milleti için gece gündüz çalışan lider” (A leader that works for his nation day and night).

Erdogan is in Washington for a five-day official trip in which he will participate in a nuclear summit that begins Thursday.

Erdogan will hold consultations with his counterparts on nuclear issues as well as the recent terrorist attacks in Ankara, Paris, Istanbul and Brussels.
