Istanbul police detain 13 in 'anti-terror' raids

Thirteen people suspected of having links to the outlawed Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) have been detained in raids Friday, Istanbul police said.

The authorities said six guns (two pistols, two rifles and two guns for firing blanks) were seized in morning operations on several addresses.

One of detainees is a woman, police added.

The extreme left-wing group is classified as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union. The group is suspected of having carried out a number of suicide bombings in Turkey.

The group has said it carried out last year's suicide attack on the U.S. Embassy in Ankara which killed one person and injured another.
