International alumni from Turkish universities are the biggest hope for the world, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Hakan Cavusoglu said Saturday.

Speaking at a gathering of international alumni in Istanbul, Cavusoglu said: “[The graduates] who have established strong ties with Turkey, Turkish literature and Turkish nation, are our greatest hope for this world."

The event was organized by the Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) under the auspices of Turkish presidency.

More than 500 international alumni participated in the event, a YTB official said.

Cavusoglu called the alumni “charming ambassadors of Turkey”.

He added that two different kinds of struggles have been going on in the world. “One involves burning down, destroying everything; the other involves building together, with love, compassion and peace.”

"We, who witness this struggle, share a dream of a world without injustice and exploitation," he added.
