General Hulusi Akar, chief of the Turkish General Staff, met with General Raheel Sharif, his Pakistani counterpart, at the Pakistani Army’s General Headquarters in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.
At the meeting, the two army chiefs discussed matters of mutual interest, including the two country’s military-to-military relations, the current regional security situation, and means of enhancing bilateral defense cooperation.
Akar commended the achievements of Operation Zarb-e-Azb -- a joint military offensive currently being conducted by the Pakistani armed forces against various militant groups -- and lauded the "sacrifices" made by Pakistan to bring peace and stability to the troubled region.
