The international conference on Syria known as "Geneva II" will be held in the Swiss city of Montreux in January, UN spokesperson in Geneva said on Tuesday.
"Geneva II will be held on 22nd of January and then will resume on the 24th of January at the UN Office in Geneva where the two Syrian delegations will sit with Brahimi and start the negotiations," UN and the League of Arab States for Syria Spokesperson Khawla Mattar said at a press conference in UN Office in Geneva.
There will be a series of meetings leading up to Geneva II Conference. The first one will take place this Friday between UN and Arab League Special Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi and the US and Russian representatives.
Later on Friday, these three will be joined by the permanent members of UN Security Council and immediate neigbours of Syria mainly Iraq, Jordan, Iran and Turkey. In addition there will be representatives of the League of Arab States and EU.
At the meeting, the last final touches of international conference on Syria, "Geneva II", will be discussed.
